Access Orlando is no longer providing dial-up or ADSL Internet Access Services
Netscape Communicator 4.x
While running Communicator:
- Click Edit
- Click Preferences
- Click the Mail & Groups category
- If there's a plus to the left of it, click the plus. This
will drop down several sub-categories.
- Click the Identity sub-category
- Enter your real name under Your name
- Enter your e-mail address (i.e. username@ao.net)
under Email address
- Click the Mail Server sub-category
- Enter your login name next to Mail server user
name
- Enter mail.ao.net next to Outgoing mail
(SMTP) server
- For Netscape 4.x
- Enter mail.ao.net next to Incoming mail
server
- Make sure there's a dot next to POP3 and
that there is not a check in Leave
messages on server after retrieval
- Click the More Options button and put a check in Remember
my mail password
- For Netscape 4.5 and up
- Under Incoming Mail Servers click ADD
- In Server Name enter mail.ao.net
- For Server Type select POP3 server
- In Username enter your username
- Check Remember password for the program to remember your password
- Click OK
- Click the Groups Server sub-category
- Enter news.ao.net under Discussion
groups (news) server, leave it at Port
119, and don't check Secure
- Click OK
To get or send mail, click Communicator at the top, then
Messenger Mailbox. It will ask you to enter your password (the
password you provided when you signed up) the first time you
check for mail, but only the first time.
