A Celebration of a Partnership

Hank & Yash

3/26/96 – 4/11/03

This slideshow is dedicated to the partnership I shared with Yash,

to the friends we have made along the way,

and to supporters of  Canine Companions for Independence everywhere.

The individual thank you’s are far too many to try to mention,

but a special thank you is in order for Bonnie Bergin.

She thought up the idea of a dog pulling a wheelchair, and then made it happen.

Me and Yash were all about blowing down the road, and covering ground.

The stories, oh, the stories!

We tried to give back to CCI by striving to be an exemplary service dog team.

And despite a few even sometimes spectacular failures, especially early,

we'd like to think we succeeded.

Technical notes

You really need high-speed connection for best results.

If you have a sound card and speakers, you should hear music and see slides within a few moments of starting the show.

You can click a picture to freeze/unfreeze it.

In Internet Explorer, you can hit F11 for full-screen mode.

AOL users may have better results using Internet Explorer or Netscape instead of the AOL browser.

If you have a slow connection, e.g. 56K modem, you’ll likely get a black screen with, eventually,

a picture that goes by too fast to see; and broken, clipped music.

But as it plays (albeit with unusable speed and quality) the music and images

are stored in your browser’s disk cache, available for quick subsequent display.

If you have a slow connection, then, it is best to start it, walk away, and come back to view it later.

Then, after restarting the show, the pictures should be displayed at the proper pace.

(because they are then in your browser’s disk cache, and don’t have to be sent over the net again)

If you see just a black screen; and no pictures ever show up, try lowering your Security level in Internet Explorer.

Flash 6 uses ActiveX controls, and ‘High’ security level doesn’t allow them.

By this time, normal people have had enough pictures of dogs.
