Norton AntiVirus 4.0
This month I'm going to give a few words on Norton AntiVirus©. I've always been a fan of the Norton products. In this review I will talk about 4.0, while this product has been on the market for a while now, it is a very reliable product. Symantec is currently producing Norton AntiVirus 5.0.
Probably my favorite feature is the LiveUpdate. This feature allows you to connect, either by the Internet or by a long distance call, to get the latest virus definitions. Currently over 15,600 know viruses.
I'm not going to go into, benchmarks, reliability, etc. That's not what this is here for, plus I don't think those are what makes a good program. Obviously reliability is important, but there are so many other places out there that go into detail about those kind of things. Also as any good computer professional would recommend you should have two anti-virus program for maximum protection. Just make sure they work well together, and don't have both running at the same time.
Something I've always liked about Norton AntiVirus is it's ease of use. All you have to do is put a check in the drive(s) you want to check and then click on scan. You don't have to type in drive letters, or do strange things.
With Auto-Protect it protects your computer all the time. Downloading files, strange floppies, etc. It passively scans files as they are loading and downloading. What the passive scanning does is it watches your computer as you download or run files, if it sees virus like activity, or signs of a know virus it warns you and lets you know.
I highly recommend this program for your computer.
